Private Wine Tasting Experience – Session 2

Tasting Around the World (Session 2):

Love history? Love exploring the “WHY” behind certain regional wine-making styles? Interested in learning more about the origin of certain grape varieties while tasting student-crafted wines? If you answered yes, our new “Tasting Around the World” session is just for you!

This exciting follow-up session to the Southwest Wine Center (SWC) Experience (Session 1) will expand on the sensory evaluation techniques provided in Session 1 through the exploration and, of course, tasting of grape varieties grown in the Yavapai College (YC) Vineyard.

We’ll explore the origin of grape varieties and discuss the significant grape-growing regions where these varieties thrive and typical wine-making styles worldwide.

At the YC Vineyard, we grow grapes from France, Italy, and Spain, making this truly a tasting worldwide through the lens of Arizona wine-making.

Sign up for this fun experience today!  Space is limited. Every participant must be 21 years of age or older.

THIS SESSION WILL PROVIDE:

• Exploration of the 12 grape varieties grown in the YC Vineyard
• Origin of grape varieties, major wine regions, and key traits
• Discussion of typical wine-making styles in major grape growing regions
• Definition/rationale of prescriptive wine-making styles found in Europe versus the United States
• Educational tasting through a flight of 5 wines crafted by SWC Enology students

COST: $85/person, $130/couple, and includes*

• 1.5-hour educational tasting of five wines focusing on deductive tasting techniques (see, smell, sip, and summarize)
• Wine Folly Master Guide Hardback book
• SWC Aroma and Flavor Profile Guide
• Cheese plate to compliment flight of 5 wines

*Attended the SWC Experience (Session 1) and already have your book + educational card? The cost is $65/person, $110/couple. Please bring both the book and card with you to Session 2.

Note: Session 1 attendance is not a prerequisite for Session 2.

Refund / Cancellation Policy:

If you cannot attend an experience you registered for, you must notify us at least 15 days before the class date to receive a full refund. If you must cancel within 7 to 14 days before the experience, you may transfer your reservation to a new date. We do not offer refunds or transfers within seven days of the experience, as materials and staff have already been committed to the class.

*If, for some unforeseen reason, the SWC cancels the experience, you will receive a full refund, or you may select a future class to attend.*
